Greek Oregano

Greek oregano is a self-grown aromatic plant that grows mostly on mountains and rocky areas. Its name comes from the ancient word 'ὀρίγανον' (origanon), a combination of the word 'όρος' (mountain) and the verb 'γανοῦσθαι' (love), stating oreganos' love for the higher altitutes of the Mediterranean mountains.

Oreganos' quality is determined mostly by the porpotion of the essential oil within it. It is a fact that oregano that is found at the highest altitudes of the Mediterannean, had the highest amounts of essential oil, and for that reason greek oregano is considered one of the best in the world.
